I hope you don’t mind me posting this here but I wanted to share with you my new weekly vlog series that I’ve started. It focuses around me documenting how I’m creating my business from the ground up. I show details of my process and how I manage my health to make sure I can be consistent with my business.
Would be great if you could check it out.
Thanks to Mihovil for already checking it out and giving such positive feedback.

Not only that we don’t mind you posting this here but we encourage you to do it! That is the purpose of this forum! 🙂
Yes, I love the vlog idea, it gives some additional personality to your channel and explains more into details why you are into “relaxing sleep music” in the first place. 🙂
Feel free to link every episode in this topic! 🙂
January 25, 2017 at 10:56 am #942
Awesome! Thanks so much for the encouragement and support Mihovil 🙂
You got it, every episode from now on 😉
I felt like it was relevant, glad you did too.
I agree it helps people understand my why a little more. I’m going to eventually make my one word video and how it relates to my channel but that won’t be for a while.
January 25, 2017 at 11:02 am #943
Take your time! Looking forward to your “one word” video. And other vlog videos as well. 😉

Good experiments, and yes, sharing creations is encouraged here.
Vlog storytelling is an art form, and Casey Neistat has some good examples and tips for improving it. May help with your Podcast idea too 🙂
Awesome Jazz Writing discussion here too lol 🙂

Thanks Mihovil 🙂

Here is episode 2 of the business vlog. I’m still working out many things, but I think it’s an improvement. I’d love any feedback.

I merged your new topic with the existing one, so that it will be easier for you and the rest of us to track your vlog posts here on forum. Or in other words, post everything related to your vlog in this topic in the future. 🙂
Haha, I wanted to mention that thumbnail image but I see you are already on it! 🙂 Question, are you active on some CFS forum or community?
February 5, 2017 at 4:19 am #995
Thanks for merging the topic Mihovil. That makes sense to keep it all together like that 😉
Yes, I am active 3 different ME?CFS forums. I had touched base with them a couple months back when I first launched the channel to ask for their approval to share what I was doing with their community. The moderators at all of them told me that they are very clear that they don’t promote people’s businesses but also saw the value of what I was doing for the members of their community. They told me to go away and find a way to be less salesy in the approach than what I had come to them with.
I decided to postpone my introduction with the groups as at that stage I was only doing the music and I knew that my plan for the channel was to be much more than just the music. Now I have sleep music, relaxing music, classical music, guided meditations, sleep tips and my vlog. So I feel like I’m ready to have that conversation with them again.
Thanks to you Mihovil for giving me that gentle nudge towards reigniting that conversation.
February 13, 2017 at 11:20 pm #1115
I love this idea, definitely share your stuff with your tribe in those CFS groups 🙂
Also, I liked the emotional teasers in the beginning of ep. 04.
Also, props on all the love you put into editing your vids, and your attitude of “no more griping” 🙂
February 14, 2017 at 7:05 am #1139
Thanks J-Ryze! Yeah I’m trying to make sure that there is enough interest between the thumbnail, the title and the first 15 seconds of the video. It sounds like on this occasion at least I was successful 🙂 Thanks!
Yeah I want the videos to be entertaining as well as informative. Hopefully as my editing and story telling skills improve that will continue to evolve.
February 5, 2017 at 4:25 am #997
Here is a copy of the letter I plan to send to the moderators of the ME/CFS groups.
I’d love any feedback you have.
You may remember a while back that I wrote to you talking about my new YouTube channel and that on the channel I was trying to promote using relaxing music, guided meditation and positive sleep hygiene as ways to assist people with insomnia (which includes but is not limited to people with ME/CFS).
I’ve recently started a weekly vlog sharing my experience and talking about how I’m building a successful media company as someone with a chronic illness.
I would really like the opportunity as we discussed previously to share my message with our community and I wanted to give you the heads up and get your approval to do so again as your blessing is important to me.
Below is the post I’d like to share with the group;
One of the positive things about having ME/CFS for 13 years has been the opportunity to listen and learn from so many wise souls. In doing so, I felt like it was up to me to give something back.
I knew that sleeping was such a difficult journey for people with ME/CFS. When I did further research I found that insomnia affects a large proportion of the population and not just people with ME/CFS.
With my background as a radio show host and dj, and my personal interest in meditation and introspection, I decided to create a YouTube channel to help all those suffering from insomnia. The channel focuses on using relaxing music, nature sounds, guided meditation and positive sleep hygiene as ways to assist people with insomnia (which includes but is not limited to people with ME/CFS. I also appreciate the causes for people with ME/CFS may differ than the majority of the population; I intend this channel to be an asset to assist in managing your sleep, not a cure).
I’m especially proud of a weekly vlog series that I’ve started that focuses on my experience as someone with a chronic illness building a successful media company. I hope to bring awareness to the issues we face, show that we aren’t lazy bums and humanise our situation while also providing encouragement, and through our connection, reducing isolation to people everywhere suffering from this illness.
I encourage you to follow my journey. Learn from my mistakes, celebrate my wins, enjoy watching the process of developing a business and discovering how to manage the complexities of a chronic illness.
February 5, 2017 at 5:53 am #1009
Love it! This is very purposeful and “human to human” approach. They will see that you are legit and that you really care about the subject of ME/CFS and helping people struggling with it.
Even if they say no (which I honestly doubt), there probably are some related forums which won’t. All in all, the best way to promote yourself to your targeted audience is by interacting with them directly at the places they are. Fingers crossed! Let us know how it goes! 🙂
February 5, 2017 at 6:30 am #1010
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement Mihovil 🙂
Yeah I agree that going to where the audience is, having a relationship first and contributing to the groups leads to a more likely yes when you make an ask like this. Yeah I’ll have to start branching out and creating relationships with more forums. Building relationships with these new forums will take time.
I’ll definitely let you know how it goes!
February 6, 2017 at 11:47 am #1014
I just finished episode 3 of the business vlog. Here it is! Would love to hear what you thought, am considering what questions I could ask the audience to increase comment engagement. Any ideas?
February 6, 2017 at 1:35 pm #1030
Don’t worry about the comments at this point. Keep pumping subscribers by promoting your channel and by providing value. I see channels with thousands of subscribers which have one or two comments on most of the videos. You will get there in time. 🙂
February 7, 2017 at 3:39 pm #1057
Thumbnail, filming, story, confidence, editing, type of video. 10/10
Dramatic zooms fit so perfectly with dark background and color/tone of your voice when you are about to say something important! Love it!
February 9, 2017 at 12:12 am #1058
Sorry it’s taken me a couple days, I’ve been having problems with the internet/VPN here and haven’t been able to access many sites.
Wow thanks for the love Mihovil! Thanks so much for the encouragement. Yeah I want to do more videos like this, but with all the research, writing, filming, editing and creating all the sound efx these videos take a lot longer to make. I think this is the best video I’ve made so far. I have a couple more that I’ve made, but after making them I realised my topics are a little all over the place. There isn’t a consistent theme to them. I need to bring it back to basics.
I’d love to know of any topics you’d like to see covered in a video like this.
I really appreciate you sharing this video and just for watching and leaving a comment both here and on the video itself.
February 9, 2017 at 7:10 am #1059
Yes, it sure is your best video so far. 🙂 I like this format overall, so I think you could use it when talking about any subject, no matter if that is related to sleep stuff in general, meditation or ME/CFS.
My PERSONAL (!!!) opinion is that you should use this (educational) format for short (8-15 min) videos which are good for more or less anyone and that they are related to your subjects as well. Like tips for successful meditation, tips for family members of people suffering from ME/CFS, how to balance your sleep schedule better with work/family life, what happens with our brains when we are in non-REM / REM phases of sleep, what happens with out brains when we sleep and listen to music at the same time, tell us about dreams in general (vivid, lucid) etc.
What I personally like about this format (except for great filming and editing) the most is: It doesn’t take too much of my time and it can be interesting to anyone. For example, I like to meditate in silence, so I probably won’t be using your meditation guide/music videos. I might listen to your music videos but usually I listen to some of my favorite bands or some podcast / Evan’s videos while I work.
But I feel like any subject related to sleep in this format can be very interesting and beneficial for me or anyone else. 🙂 Of course, don’t focus only on that because I’m sure many people will benefit from your other formats as well.
Also, this format can tell you a lot about your audience. For example, if your most viewed/commented video of this format is the one about meditation tips, you will know that you can do more of meditations related videos (of all formats). Perhaps people will be more interested about science behind the brain in the state of sleep and ME/CFS.
Approach the sleep like science, with many secrets and many directions to explore. The more you know about sleep in general, the more you can do to help yourself and others with ME/CFS and people interested in sleep in general.
Another idea: Try Wim Hof’s method and see how it affects your ME/CFS, could easily be beneficial to you (see my explanation why in my Wim Hof journal topic). If it is helping, talk about that!
Hope that all of this is understandable and that it helps. 🙂
P.S. What is your “one word”?
February 10, 2017 at 11:13 am #1060
Wow! Thanks so much for such a well thought out post Mihovil. That’s what I call value!!!
I’ve added the Wim Hof to my list of things to try. Unfortunately I have to be very scientific about how I test a protocol. Because the smallest thing can have a big effect on my health so I have to test things for a longer period of time before I can really understand if it’s working for me. I’m currently testing something else at the moment. Thanks for the advice. I’ll have another read of your other post tomorrow as it’s late and I should really go to bed.
I want you to know I’ve copied your post to a word document so I can look at it again and use the ideas when I’m creating my content plan going forward.
Thanks again Mihovil! So very helpful!
My one word may change… still at an early stage. But it’s “overcome”.

Don’t even mention it, glad I could help! 🙂

Holy… how did I miss this thread?
Amazing stuff RSS, and so great to see Miho showing love and breathing life into the forums while I’ve been absent 🙂
RSS, you’re a great example of what can be done if ppl just “start” 🙂
I’m glad you’re reaching out to ppl who may benefit and relate. Keep sharing, #keepryzing 😉
P.S. Have you seen Tamera Weeks cerebral palsy vlog? It may give you ideas for ME/CFS 🙂

Jaime’s Youtube channel is something you can tell will succeed, just like Tam’s vlog (great idea for Jaime to check out her stuff, J-Ryze). 🙂 You can see the level of love and dedication in both cases. I check out Jaime’s Youtube channel every few days to see how many subscribers/comments he has, no matter if I’m interested in his latest video(s) or not. And I can see that someone is already thanking him for his channel in his comment section, love it! 🙂
As I said Jaime, keep creating content, people will find you, don’t worry about potential lack of subscribers/comments/views/likes. You are just starting out and it can only get better every day if you keep putting great content out. 🙂 The way I look at it: if you can get 1 subscriber which finds value in your content and you don’t know that person yourself, the only thing you need to get to a million is hard work. 🙂
@j-ryze, This forum is created to be in line with Evan’s channel, which is helping and supporting entrepreneurs. I’m just glad that RSS is seeing the benefits of it and is involved in discussions. 🙂
February 13, 2017 at 11:26 pm #1119
And don’t underestimate the impact of your encouraging replies here, or the existence of this forum playing a role in many businesses #ryzing .
So much love bro.
February 14, 2017 at 7:22 am #1145
So true Mihovil, if people that you don’t know are finding value in your content, you just need to grind. Put out more content, make waves in other forums by providing value, and being genuine in your interest in what is happening for the other person.
It was a really nice post of encouragement when you said that you could see the channel was going to b successful. I’ve felt that way since before it started and it means a lot to know that someone else also sees the potential based on what I’ve done so far.
Yup, I’ll put comment, subscribers etc on the back burner and just continue to focus on what I can control.
Mihovil, you’ve done a great job with the forum and I would 100% agree that it is line with the ethos of Evan’s channel and all that he is about. I’m definitely seeing the benefits of that and it’s important to me to also be a contributor to other conversations where I feel I can add value.
February 14, 2017 at 7:15 am #1144
Thanks for the encouragement J-Ryze!
Yeah hopefully I can be an inspiration to others out there that have been toying with an idea but just haven’t started yet. There are ups and downs, things won’t be perfect but you’ll learn and grow along the way and you’re producing something that could be of assistance to others!
Yeah I’m subscribed to Tamera’s channel, her content is daily so the vibe and story telling arc is a little different but it’s a good reminder to look at what others are doing and see what I can adapt to suit my needs.
Yeah lastly it must be said Mihovil has been fantastic at being supportive, providing constructive criticism and also engaging in my content on my channel. It’s really meant a lot to me so thanks J-Ryze for giving me another excuse to tell Mihovil how much I appreciate what he’s been doing 🙂

Compelling, action packed first few lines! Well written, Jaime!
February 19, 2017 at 2:16 am #1178
Thanks J-Ryze 🙂 I was trying to paint a picture that would speak to the target audience and get them invested in why the topic was important to them.
Hopefully they read far enough to get some value.
I appreciate the encouragement.
February 22, 2017 at 11:45 am #1186
The infographics and other materials help too! 🙂
February 14, 2017 at 8:38 am #1148
I just rewatched the latest vlog with Tia for the first time. I really noticed I just waffle on for way too long. I need to find a way of continuing to keepp the emotion and find a way to be more concise. It just gets really boring.
Will try to add more B-Roll as well where appropriate.
February 18, 2017 at 5:04 pm #1173
Good awareness and focus bro! B-Roll FTW 🙂
February 14, 2017 at 1:01 pm #1149
Jaime, thank you so much for your kind words you have for me and the forum in general, really means a lot. 🙂
I love the idea of guest articles! BTW, sleep and sports – great combination for the subject as well! 🙂
February 14, 2017 at 10:11 pm #1150
No worries Mihovil 🙂
You’re doing a great job 🙂
Thanks for the encouragement and support of the guest article. I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

I commented on the video but also wanted to share some love here. Congrats and keep going! 🙂 #Believe

Thanks Evan, I appreciate the encouragement 🙂
February 20, 2017 at 2:15 am #1180
Hey Jaime, can we get some “writing” music on your channel? 🙂
February 22, 2017 at 11:51 am #1187
Ooh great question 🙂
February 24, 2017 at 9:42 am #1196
Hi Mihovil, thanks for the request. Can you give me a little more detail as to what you would expect when you say “writing” music? I currently have a number of classical music videos which many find helpful for concentration or creativity.
There are also nature sounds, nature sounds with sparse piano, single tone music with occasional bells that many find helpful for focus.
If these aren’t what you were looking for I’d be happy to hear more about what you’d like to hear.
If J-Ryze also has something to say on the topic (or anyone else reading this) I’m open to suggestions.
February 24, 2017 at 10:57 am #1199
Good point, “writing music” is a very general term, my bad. 🙂
I personally love to write while listening to some subtle jazz music, it usually goes under the name “relaxing jazz” or “relaxing coffee music” or “relaxing jazz coffee music”. 🙂
February 24, 2017 at 7:21 pm #1200
Hi Mihovil, thanks for clarifying. I do currently have 1 video like this and will be doing more in the future under my Wednesday Relaxation Music banner.
Perhaps check this one out and let me know what you think.
